Called to request service for HVAC concern after colder temps moved in. My propane heating system was making a clunking noise upon ignition. Something was misfiring? Technician came out tested gas flow, PSI etc and said everything was fine. He listened to it and recognized that the sound it was making was not ideal. He was at the house for 30-40 min at most. A couple days pass and recieve an invoice for $210. On the invoice it says...Found unit with low gas(never did the technician say anything about that), Set PSI(I believe he checked it but didn't know he set it as I was there watching it all), Ran unit(Yes this is correct), HVAC service work this period. Basically, a technician came to the house checked PSI and ran the unit for $210.

I have been with Boulangers now for just over 5 years. I called and inquired about the invoice and Christine said she would speak to the technician and owner and get back to me. I thought great, they will take care of this. A week passed and I recieve a letter saying that they tried contacting numerous times on phone numbers that I have never seen or have had. It also stated that the owner and supervisor considered my request but I had been advised by the technician that the system be updated and that they could not make adjustments to the bill. They could not warranty work done on a unit that they knew was in need of being replaced. Now one would think if indeed that was the case that the technician that was at the house would have shared that with me? Interesting that he did not...At the end of the letter they said they would be willing to apply this amount towards a new Boulangers boiler installation. Again, the unit/ system run so I am not sure it would be neccesary to do this? Naturally, I called Christine and questioned the validity of the invoice and work that was not performed. She said there was nothing she could do. She did say that she would talk to the owner but doubted there would be any change. I started to raise my voice as I think anyone might be a little annoyed given the situation and she hung up on me. Not good business practice as we are paying your salary. I called right back and a gentleman answered saying she was in the bathroom. Hmmm....I doubt she could have moved that fast. He said he was one of the owners and that she hung up as the discussion was over with. Well if you hang up on your customers in mid sentance chances are good they are not going to be happy with you when they call back. I explained briefly once again to the gentleman what had happened and he PROMISED that someone would call me bright and early the morning of November 8th. It is now November 9th at 645pm and have heard nothing.

I called Boulangers and I needed 2 clean-outs installed in my business. they told me over the phone it was going to cost $300.00 for the first 2 hours, and if it was not done within the 2 hours then I would have to pay more. So I agreed and they came the next day to my store, Looked around for approximately 8 to 10 min, and told me they were going to have to go get parts. So before they left I said How long do you think the whole job will take? (and one of the men replied to me about 4 hours) but depends, and I said to the man, and the cost is going to be $300.00 for 2 hours, so it is going to cost around $600.00 if it goes 4 hours, and the man said No!, and then he said this job is going to cost between $1300.00 to $1600.00, So I asked him if it is $300.00 for the 2 hours as he told me over the phone and he estimates the job to be about 4 hours then how is he getting $1300.00 to $1600.00 for this job???, and he said well you are going to have to pay for the parts. So I asked how much do the parts cost?, and at that point he looked down at the floor and would not make eye contact with me and looked nervous and then said I do not know I do not make the prices my boss does!!! and that I would have to talk to his boss about this, So I asked him to Please get his boss on the phone because the prices he was now giving to me were not the same prices I was told from the start of this over the phone! So he called his boss and was talking to him himself for a few min, and put me on the phone and i explained to the boss the situation (just as described above) and the boss then told me it is $142.50 (or something near that ) per hour per man and he sent 2 men, and I then told the boss that that was not the price I was quoted over the phone (the $300.00 for the 2 hours and I was expecting 1 man) and the man in my store then told me he was the pone I talked to over the phone, as I was speaking to his boss. I then told the boss that if he was not going to honor the deal we had for the $300.00 for the 2 hours then I was not going to do this job with his Company, and he said that is fine but you owe me $300.00 right now for coming down to my store, and I then told him I owe him absolutely nothing and that is exactly what he is going to get, and that I am not going to be paying him $300.00 at all. and he replied Really?and I replied back to him yes Really, and handed his worker his phone back which was used to call the boss. So about a month later I received a bill in the mail for $285.00, and I ignored it as I already told him I was not going to be paying this bill, and about a month after that I received another bill saying second notice for the $285.00, So I have written this review so others will not have something like this happen to them with this disreputable company, and I plan to call the better Business bureau tomorrow too and report this to them, I have perfect credit and I do not know if this could hurt my credit but I am just not going to be abused like this by this company and I am not going to pay them $300.00 for trying to cheat me and fail, I had this job done by another licensed plumber and the entire job cost me with parts $400.00 (and the plummer who did this job was alone only one man) and He was 68 years old, and did the job all by him self (and I have the receipts if any one would like to see them) and Boulanger's was trying to cheat me and take advantage of me, because I had a major flood in my store and was desperate, and they gave me a fair price over the phone then tried to switch it on me later on in person. and then wanted me to pay them $300.00 for the 10 min they were at my store (and they only looked around for about 3-5 min and the other 5 min they were just arguing with me about the prices, My advise to you is stay away from this company- the BOULANGERS- they are sneaky and not trust worthy!

I had Boulanger's come to repair a floor heater, which is very old (piping into the chimney had holes in it and the housing was bad). I didn't want to replace the whole unit so they drew a picture of what was needed, took it to their fabrication shop, which is out of town, and made a new housing for the piping to go into (and everything was done the same day). I have been utilizing Boulanger's for a number of years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. They are always very professional, skilled in what they do and I am always very pleased.

I had a back up and the basement was flooded. I called and they recommended another company to snake the drain and diagnose the problem. That worked great and it was discovered that there was a crack in my sewer main. Boulanger's talked me through the whole problem and when the ground was soft enough, they came out, dug up the pipe without disturbing too much, replaced some pipe and filled in the whole. Great, reliable estimate and wonderful, calming service with friendly good humor.

While I was at it, I asked them to replace my circa 1994 hot water heater. They this within the week! I've been waiting (sometimes years) for other plumbers to come over to do an estimate or to get back to me with a price, etc.... And, now, I have a new appliance and the bill was exactly what was quoted.

When I needed to contact a plumber during a minor emergency, I called Boulangers's. The phone was answered by a very polite and efficient person, who assured me a technician would be dispatched at the first open spot on the schedule. The technician arrived on time and did the job to my total satisfaction. In the past, calls to other plumbers' answering machines were not responded to. It was a joy to be able to speak to a real person and to deal with a team of true professionals.
